Identification of key gaps & opportunities in the current classified job market for blue-collar workers

CONTEXT

A job-matching platform focussed on career enhancement for the blue-collar workforce in India was looking to diversify its bouquet of recruitment services to offer employers and blue/ grey collared workers classified jobs offering using a game-changing technology platform

 

our process

Pensaar Design started by performing an in-depth analysis and gap assessment of 10-12 competitors, followed by a heuristic evaluation of the current platform and the other top classifieds platforms to get a holistic view into the existing blue/grey-collar job market and determine gaps and areas of improvement.

We then conducted deep qualitative research, and spoke to different stakeholders in the ecosystem including Job Seekers, Employers and Recruiters, to understand their pains, desires, and motivations during the hiring process. We synthesised the information gathered to arrive at insights as well as identify existing gaps and workarounds and used this to identify opportunity areas which will allow differentiation from competitors while at the same time will meet customer needs and delighting them.

Qualitative research to identify gaps, opportunities and unmet needs in the current job market for blue & grey collar workers

CONTEXT

A job-matching platform focussed on career enhancement for the blue-collar workforce in India was looking to diversify its bouquet of recruitment services to create a community of job seekers, mentors, recruiters & professionals in a game-changing attempt to empower people by building strong social communities of learning, upskilling & job referrals.

OUR PROCESS

Pensaar Design started with secondary research to explore other community and job-seeking platforms for Inspiration and competitive audit to assess the facilities and resources of other platforms in the market. This was followed by conducting in-depth 1:1 interviews  & prototype research with job seekers & internal stakeholders to understand the inherent mindsets, needs, processes and motivations of job seekers. We synthesised the research findings to understand the gaps, opportunities and insights to create a conceptual flow that will showcase the experience recommendations & Information architecture keeping keep Jobs To Be Done in mind.

From research, we were able to Prioritise jobs for MVP and determine the appropriate information architecture for the community module. Prototype tests were done on 3 concepts to derive the most suitable one and identify best-suited interface UX for individual features &  functionality
